How is TUOHK Different ?
If you're wondering whether The University of Hard Knocks is just a modern remake of Trivial Pursuit, it is not. Sure, both games live on a board and ask questions. But that's where the similarities end.
Knowledge Alone Won't Win You the Game
The first major difference is that in a traditional knowledge game like Trivial Pursuit, the smartest person usually wins. In TUOHK, the Tuee reports introduce a large element of luck into the game, with good and bad reports. You can beat your smart Alec friend, if the Tuee reports fall your way.
Question Delivery
The second major difference is the smooth delivery of timed questions delivered by AI voices Karen and Lee, through the companion iOS app, which keeps things fresh and fun. TUOHK's six Faculties—History & Geography, General Knowledge & Facts, Technology & Innovation, Entertainment & The Arts, Science & Maths, and Sports & The Olympics—are designed to inform and spark discussion.
The Difficulty Levels Are Different Too
TUOHK uses Pass and Honours difficulty levels. Pass questions are accessible to most players aged 14+. Honours questions challenge your deeper knowledge. There are 6000 pass level questions and 6000 honours level questions. You can play pass level only, or honours level only, or a combination of all 12,000 questions.
It's Built for Everyone
TUOHK is inclusive by design. Whether you're a teenager playing with parents, a group of friends on game night, or multi-generational family gathering, there's room for everyone to contribute, strategise, and win.
The Australian Difference
TUOHK is proudly Australian-made, and this is reflected with the humour in the questions and The University Of Hard Knocks setting, with its quirky characters. We're a bit cheeky, never crass, and genuinely interested in making sure everyone has a great night.
The Bottom Line
If you're looking for a knowledge game where conversation matters, strategy and luck helps and learning feels like fun rather than homework, TUOHK is your game. It's not about proving you know everything. It's about enjoying a social experience where curiosity is rewarded—and everyone has fun.
