Warren Brockwell

TUOHK Founder

Warren Brockwell is the visionary founder of TUOHK. This is quite a change for Warren, who has been at the forefront of the screw piling industry in Australia for over 30 years.

A graduate of Melbourne University and a CPA, Warren has worked in Director and Finance Management roles.

Now semi-retired and looking for something to fill his spare time, Warren decided to found a university - one that combines graduation with humour.

The result is TUOHK, The University of Hard Knocks - a metaphor for The University of Life.

Eugene Marsden-Walker

Digital Architect & Creative Developer

Eugene Marsden-Walker is TUOHK’s digital architect — the mind (and hands) behind everything that clicks, slides, flashes, or talks back.

Armed with a Fine Arts degree and Computer Science degree from Canterbury University and nearly two decades of experience in web development, systems design, and app engineering, Eugene brings both artistry and architecture to the University of Hard Knocks.

From the TUOHK website, the board game design to the companion app - every line of code, every animation, every interaction - was built by Eugene from the ground up. His background in visual design gives the game its polish; his technical expertise ensures it all works seamlessly.

Peter Byrne

Computing Consultant & Quality Tester

Peter Byrne is TUOHK’s resident computing consultant and quality control guru — an Aussie who spent much of his career in the United States.

He’s the guy companies call when their systems stop talking - an IT marriage counsellor fluent in APIs from SOAP to REST. A natural-born programmer, Peter’s spent over three decades taming code in everything from COBOL and Python to Java and C#. He’s built and tested systems across finance, insurance, energy, and logistics — keeping the digital world in sync.

At TUOHK, Peter ensures every question behaves, every button obeys, and every pixel stands to attention. With an uncanny knack for spotting what others miss, he’s the one who finds the gremlins before they find you.

Professor Hugh Tuee

Chancellor & Head of Honours Studies

Distinguished, debonair, and dusty from leaning on too many library shelves, Professor Huee Tuee presides over TUOHK’s Honours Division.

With his impeccable diction and endless understanding of linguistics, Huee ensures that no student escapes without at least one mental bruise. He is the voice of reason and wisdom.

Professor Louise Tuee

Vice Chancellor and Head of Pass Studies

Warm, witty, and ever so slightly exasperated, Professor Luee Tuee is the heart of TUOHK.

She guides players through the Pass Level with charm, humour, and the occasional gentle nudge when an answer goes off the rails.Where Huee delivers “hard knocks,” Luee delivers “soft landings.”

Lee Apple

TUOHK Honours Tutor

Armed with a Bachelor of Computer Science (Hons.), Lee Apple turns complex ideas into lightbulb moments. Clever, fast-talking, and a little too proud of his gadgets, he’s the go-to guy when something needs fixing, coding, or re-imagining.

Lee’s teaching style is equal parts energy and experiment - part lecture, part live demo - and always full of surprises.

When he’s not helping students unlock their inner innovator, you’ll find him tinkering with TUOHK’s latest devices and claiming it’s “for research.”

Karen Core

TUOHK Pass Tutor

With a Bachelor of Science (Hons.), Karen Core brings curiosity, warmth, and a touch of mischief to the lab. She believes discovery is a team sport - one that thrives on laughter, mistakes, and a healthy dose of “what if?”

Karen's lessons blend storytelling with hands-on science, turning every experiment into an adventure worth remembering.

Known for her calm under pressure and her ability to make even a minor explosion sound educational, Karen keeps her tutoring bubbling with inspiration.
